Prior to that, he helped lead Maryland’s standards-based reforms, including the development of performance-based statewide assessments. As the quote below highlights, teaching is not just about engaging students in content. Student learning and understanding can be gauged more accurately through a backward design approach since it leverages what students will need to know and understand during the design process in order to progress. The knowledge and skills at this substage are considered important to know and do. The information that fits within this question could be the facts, concepts, principles, processes, strategies, and methods students should know when they leave the course. The big ideas and important understandings are referred to as enduring understandings because these are the ideas that instructors want students to remember sometime after they’ve completed the course.

Teaching for understanding

He has extensive experience as a classroom teacher, resource specialist, program coordinator, and in professional development, as a regular speaker at national, state, and district conferences and workshops. Combining provocative ideas, thoughtful analysis, and tested approaches, this new edition of Understanding by Design offers teacher-designers a clear path to the creation of curriculum that ensures better learning and a more stimulating experience for students and teachers alike. He served as director of the Maryland Assessment Consortium, a collaboration of school districts working to develop and share formative performance assessments and helped lead standards-based reforms at the Maryland State Department of Education.

Every task and piece of instruction has a purpose that fits in with the overarching goals and goals of the course. As previously stated, backward design is beneficial to instructors because it innately encourages intentionality during the design process. It continually encourages the instructor to establish the purpose of doing something before implementing it into the curriculum. Therefore, backward design is an effective way of providing guidance for instruction and designing lessons, units, and courses. Once the learning goals, or desired results, have been identified, instructors will have an easier time developing assessments and instruction around grounded learning outcomes. Well known for his work with thinking skills, McTighe has coordinated statewide efforts to develop instructional strategies, curriculum models, and assessment procedures for improving the quality of student thinking.

Once the learning goals have been established, the second stage involves consideration of assessment. The backward design framework suggests that instructors should consider these overarching learning goals and how students will be assessed prior to consideration of how to teach the content. For this reason, backward design is considered a much more intentional approach to course design than traditional methods of design. The first question listed above has instructors consider the knowledge that is worth being familiar with which is the largest circle, meaning it entails the most information.

The Three Stages of Backward Design

Information that fits within this question is the lowest priority content information that will be mentioned in the lesson, unit, or course. “Last year, I was starved for bass players,” says Bill Yeager, director of jazz studies at San Diego State University. Hofmann wittily turns the tables on usual roles with her version of the Gershwins’ “Embraceable You,” giving Magnusson’s bass the lead melodic role at first while she plays backup counterpoint, then switching into an improv mode while Magnusson thrums along underneath her flute. “It’s some great playing, she’s a wonderful player, just some good jazz,” said Phil Sheridan, vice president of Jazz Alliance, explaining why his company selected Hofmann’s project as one of its 20 releases for 1992. Furthermore, the answers to question #3 regarding enduring understandings can be adapted to form concrete, specific learning goals for the students; thus, identifying the desired results that instructors want their students to achieve. In Understanding by Design, Wiggins and McTighe argue that backward design is focused primarily on student learning and understanding. When teachers are designing lessons, units, or courses, they often focus on the activities and instruction rather than the outputs of the instruction. Therefore, it can be stated that teachers often focus more on teaching rather than learning. This perspective can lead to the misconception that learning is the activity when, in fact, learning is derived from a careful consideration of the meaning of the activity. Educators from kindergarten through college can get everything they need—guidelines, stages, templates, and tips—to start designing lessons, units, and courses that lead to improved student performance and a more stimulating experience for students and teachers alike.

The second question above allows the instructor to focus on more important knowledge, the knowledge and skills that are important to know and do. Finally, with the third question, instructors begin to detail the enduring understandings, overarching learning goals, and big ideas that students should retain. By answering the three questions presented at this stage, instructors will be able to determine the best content for the course.

This teaching guide will explain the benefits of incorporating backward design. Finally, an overview of a backward design template is provided with links to blank template pages for convenience.

Authors Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe answer these and many other questions in this second edition of Understanding by Design. With an improved UbD Template at its core, the book explains the rationale of backward design and explores in greater depth the meaning of such key ideas as essential questions and transfer tasks. Readers will learn why the familiar coverage- and activity-based approaches to curriculum design fall short, and how a focus on the six facets of understanding can enrich student learning. With an expanded array of practical strategies, tools, and examples from all subject areas, the book demonstrates how the research-based principles of Understanding by Design apply to district frameworks as well as to individual units of curriculum. In contrast, the backward design approach has instructors consider the learning goals of the course first. These learning goals embody the knowledge and skills instructors want their students to have learned when they leave the course.

At this stage it is important to consider a wide range of assessment methods in order to ensure that students are being assess over the goals the instructor wants students to attain. Sometimes, the assessments do not match the learning goals, and it becomes a frustrating experience for students and instructors. Use the list below to help brainstorm assessment methods for the learning goals of the course.

Linda Darling-Hammond makes the case for expanded use of performance assessments. Yeager has nine bassists, which amounts to about one-fourth of all jazz majors. In any other year, according to Yeager, bassist Royce Ferguson, a junior, would have been at the top of the heap, but this year he’s running neck-in-neck with fellow SDSU student Kevin Delgado, the bassist for San Diego Latin jazz groups Sol E Mar and Afro Rumba. Which means Ferguson is good, and Wednesday night’s junior recital featuring Ferguson should produce some first-rate music. In fact, the modest Wiggins has recorded a library of music that spans some 50 years, including dozens of original songs, making him a living encyclopedia of jazz.

Wiggins and McTighe provide an expanded array of practical tools and strategies for designing curriculum, instruction, and assessments that lead students at all grade levels to genuine understanding. The incorporation of backward design also lends itself to transparent and explicit instruction. If the teacher has explicitly defined the learning goals of the course, then they have a better idea of what they want the students to get out of learning activities. Furthermore, if done thoroughly, it eliminates the possibility of doing certain activities and tasks for the sake of doing them.

Payton Pritchard, who had really seemed to come into his own towards the end of the regular season, failed to attempt a shot in his 20 minutes on the floor, logging just three assists and a rebound. Sam Hauser and Al Horford combined for 12 points, with no other bench players hitting the court. He also is the career record-holder at Arizona State for field goals and steals, and set the single-season scoring average record for the school with 23.0 points per game in 1999–2000. During that season he was named Pac-10 Player of the Week a record-tying four times (matched only by Ed O'Bannon, Chris Mills, Gary Payton, and Quincy Pondexter). He primarily played as a guard, and although he was undersized, his stats were always satisfactory. However, the most significant achievement of his basketball career was when he won the NBA title with the Boston Celtics in 2008. Although his performance in that season was not outstanding, he earned a moment to cherish for the rest of his life. House not only converted the and-one but he led New Mexico in scoring in the win.

In contrast to the public spaces, the family’s bedrooms, mainly on the second floor, are more private and protected spaces.

He played two more seasons with the Miami Heat before moving to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2003. The player had started his NBA journey back in 2000 after the Miami Heat selected him in the draft. Since then, House played for eight other NBA teams before his retirement. House’s son, Jaelen House, is a senior guard on New Mexico’s team, which squared off against San Diego State in the Mountain West Championship Game on Saturday. With the Lobos leading by five late in the game, House (Jaelen) drove to the hoop and hit a tough shot. But before House went to the line to try to convert the three-point play — which he did — the cameras found a very proud father in the crowd.

House set a single-game Arizona State record with a 61-point effort in a 111–108 double-overtime victory against the California Golden Bears on the road in his senior season. House also set a record in the game with 18 made free throws in 19 attempts. House is the first Pac-10 player to notch four 40-point games in one season as he had 61 vs. Cal, 46 vs. San Diego State, 42 vs. Penn State and 40 vs. UCLA. He also posted eight 30-point games that same season and set ASU records in points (736) and points per game (23.0).

'White House Plumbers' creators found a new spin on Watergate Los Angeles Times

white house plumbers

Even with Julia Roberts as its star, Gaslit got lost in the avalanche of great television that continues to arrive, and White House Plumbers may share the same fate. Here, the mood is more satirical, and it veers into slapstick, although it tries to balance that with a strand of serious family and personal drama. It has a slick elegance to it, but it never quite feels as if it pulls the many elements together successfully.

Escobar Plumbing & Jetting

That’s not to say that “White House Plumbers” isn’t interesting or watchable, or sometimes as funny as it wants to be; there’s too much talent behind and in front of the camera for that to be the case. There’s some fine bumbling in the burglary scenes. The production is first-rate, the period work never rings false, crowd scenes are not threadbare, and choice D.C.

Review: ‘White House Plumbers’ reenacts the mishaps of Watergate’s operatives for laughs

We certainly didn't lean into it, but we wanted it there. That kind of gives you a little bit of perspective, you get the modern-day perspective on Watergate and you kind of get this 50-year perspective on what's going on right now in our government. If Gordon Liddy existed nowadays, he'd be in a chat room somewhere.

Review: Brilliantly acted, HBO’s ‘The Regime’ flirts with satire but lacks political bite

Even though it came back to bite him, Nixon’s willingness to break the law — and order others to break it — does seem to mark the beginning of a win-by-any-means age. Right away, you know this new White House Plumbers series is in great hands. Specifically, it's in the hands of writers and creators Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, both of whom worked on HBO's Veep and The Larry Sanders Show. The director of multiple episodes is David Mandel, who directed episodes of Veep and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

He's actually oddly a very modern character who was mostly obsessed with getting famous, and he really didn't care how it happened. He would have been happy to have had some sort of a scandal. He talked a big game, but didn't actually serve in the war and never quite actually killed anyone and had these delusions. There's a desperation to him that's part of why he's so dangerous. Parts of White House Plumbers are laugh-out-loud outrageous – but other parts do make you feel for some of these people, and, of course, compare that scandal to more contemporary ones.

Liddy calls black ops “black bag”, to the hilarity of the CIA stalwarts he is dealing with. Liddy is not a man who enjoys being laughed at, although the schemes he tries to pitch to Dean are frequently absurd. There are times, in reading this, playing it and watching it, where there's almost something kind of adorable or corny. Nixon could be shamed enough to actually resign. Whereas now there's been so many impeachments of both Republican and Democratic presidents.

And the many executive producers include Frank Rich, who's also an executive producer on Succession. So this group knows how to tell a story in unexpected ways, and to find the humor even in the more serious situations. The actors Justin Theroux (left) and Woody Harrelson play G. Howard Hunt in the new HBO miniseries White House Plumbers. Professional plumbers do not expect a tip.

The ultimate political scandal has been an ever-flowing fount of pop culture practically since the moment resigned president Richard Nixon flashed double peace signs and boarded his helicopter out of Washington. Gordon Liddy, the lawyer and former F.B.I. agent played by Justin Theroux. Hunt and Liddy are well-known to historians and Watergate buffs, but they are — compared to a Dean, Haldeman or Mitchell — secondary players in a scandal that toppled a presidency and whose particulars have faded from the popular memory over five decades. Theroux invests his speech with a psychotic precision that doesn’t resemble the real Liddy, yet it gets the point across. Nothing in Hunt’s biography, on the other hand, seems especially humorous, but Harrelson plays him at medium-high boil, with a thrusting chin and gravelly voice and often in some sort of emotional extremity.

Gordon Liddy are part of the "White House Plumbers". Charged with plugging press leaks by any means necessary, they accidentally overturned the Presidency they were trying to protect.

Like some people who get bullied, they look for sources of strength in odd places. In 1972, they attempted to break into the Democratic National Committee offices at the Watergate. They were caught, and the scandal ultimately led to Nixon's resignation two years later, after his administration repeatedly tried to cover up their involvement. "I certainly never thought of it as a comedy because to me, it's such a horrific period in American history," director David Mandel told NPR's Leila Fadel. "I keep calling it a tragedy that makes you laugh." And there are elements, of course, that speak to our present condition.

white house plumbers

They were called the Plumbers because, well, plumbers locate and stop leaks. Its attempts to be a jack of all trades sometimes make it a master of none. The pace is meandering, which is odd, considering there is so much happening, and it doesn’t pick up steam until well into episode two; Watergate non-aficionados may not make it that far. Theroux turns the volume up to 11 as Liddy, while Harrelson has more depth to find, with a more rounded backstory of family strife and money troubles.

Together, they enact an on-again, off-again battling bromance — a temperamentally mismatched but ideologically compatible couple, as in countless buddy-cop flicks, with the difference being that they’re failures. Outside of home repair, the word “plumbers” nowadays most quickly brings to mind a pair of Italian brothers in overalls. In an earlier time, it might have conjured up the group behind the caper that led to a cover-up that led to a committee that led to a presidential resignation, and that has doomed us to live forever with the suffix “—gate” attached to any kind of scandal. The principals in this particular telling of the story are E. Howard Hunt, played by Woody Harrelson, and G.

He is a violent geyser ready to blow at any moment. He takes his job very seriously indeed and his favourite LP is a collection of Hitler speeches, which he likes to play at dinner parties, as his terrifyingly obedient children watch on. Still, there was no shortage of study material. As Huyck says, “All the President’s Men” is “the ne plus ultra” of Watergate entertainment.

The dialogue is rich throughout White House Plumbers, and so are the performances and characters. Harrelson is wonderful — exploding like Ralph Kramden one minute, simmering like Macbeth the next — and the supporting cast is a very deep bench, serving up unexpected treasures every episode. There's Kathleen Turner as lobbyist Dita Beard! And Lena Headey from Game of Thrones as Hunt's wife, Dorothy! And Gary Cole as FBI executive Mark Felt – who, though he's not identified as such here, in real life was the infamous Deep Throat of All the President's Men. It opens with the second of four Watergate break-in attempts, and the emphasis is on how terrible these “plumbers” – so-called because they are brought together to “fix the leaks” coming out of the White House – actually are.

There are nods to current populist rhetoric, particularly in some of Liddy and Hunt’s more provocative statements. “It’s just you and me against the entire radical left. Let the record show that Gordon Liddy shits red, white and blue,” barks Liddy. Hunt, a former CIA agent still fuming from the Bay of Pigs fiasco, and Liddy, whose tenure with the FBI did not end well, had plenty in common.

(The title comes from how they were known for "fixing leaks.") The series slightly elevates its comedy here. Harrelson and Theroux ham up liberally recounted events that have some shred of truth, and flourish in a passage about investigating the therapist of Daniel Ellsberg (who famously released the Pentagon Papers). We watch Liddy and Hunt, in bafflingly fake wigs, do dumb things like pose in front of the camera used during a break-in (only made worse when Hunt doesn’t take the film out before it reaches the authorities later on). It’s Coen brothers-lite with the bittersweetness of history and a looming sense of how ill-conceived each move is. Their patriotism isn’t just inflating their hubris; it will get them in serious trouble. A five-part series that tells the true story of how Nixon's own political saboteurs and Watergate masterminds, E.

Additionally, you can use mirrors to reflect natural light and make a room feel brighter and more spacious. When placing furniture in a room, it is essential to consider how the proportions of the furniture will work together. For example, if a room has high ceilings, it may be necessary to use taller furniture to fill the space. On the other hand, if a room has low ceilings, it may be necessary to use lower furniture to avoid making the space feel cramped. Scale and proportion are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing.

Can I extend my staging beyond the standard three months?

The easiest example of this in terms of interior design is the use of the human scale. For example, chairs, and couches are designed according to a human scale, so they are the right height for the average person to use. Conversely, if a room has lower ceilings, you’ll want to focus on smaller, more proportionate pieces that won’t overwhelm the space. You can also use visual tricks, such as hanging artwork closer to the ceiling or using horizontal stripes, to create the illusion of height in a room with lower ceilings.

Figure out your square footage and ceiling height, to determine how much space you have for furniture and accessories. For example, if you have large windows your space will automatically feel open. Even in small spaces, tall ceilings will make your space appear more expansive.

For instance, a large sectional sofa in a small room can create a cramped and cluttered feel. Decor is the finishing touch in interior design, and proportion is essential for creating a cohesive look. When choosing decor pieces, it’s essential to consider the size of the space and the other elements in the room. Asymmetrical design is all about creating balance through the use of different shapes, sizes, and colors. For example, a room might have a large, bold piece of artwork on one wall, balanced out by a group of smaller, more subtle pieces on another wall. This creates a sense of visual interest and keeps the eye moving around the space.

Proportion and Furniture

proportion in interior design

Additionally, the size of the nightstands, dressers, and other furniture should be proportional to the bed and the room. Alternatively, if the walls are painted with a smooth texture, it may be best to select fabrics with a rougher texture to add interest and depth to the space. Fabrics with a soft texture, such as velvet or chenille, can create a sense of comfort and warmth in a space.

It refers to the balance between design elements, including size, shape, color, and texture. Striking the right balance between different design elements in a single room is the purpose of proportion in interior design. A large piece of furniture or artwork can create a focal point in an area and draw the eye. It can help establish a sense of proportion and scale by providing a visual anchor for the space. Creating a focal point is a vital aspect of proportion and scale in interior design. Drawing attention to a specific area or object in the room can help balance the space’s proportions.

The proportion is like the secret seasoning in your grandma’s famous stew. It subtly, yet profoundly, affects the aesthetics and functionality of a space. Get it wrong, and you’re stumbling through a maze of mismatched chaos. It’s a game-changer, an invisible force shaping how you experience your surroundings. The secret sauce of implementing proportion in various spaces is like a culinary recipe; it varies with the dish!

In theory, a room should be 1.6 times wider and 2.6 times longer than it is taller to achieve perfection... Often, however, great room proportions are just something we get a feeling for when we enter them for the first time. Negative space is the space that is empty or unoccupied by objects or elements. For example, the space between the sofa and the table, the space above the lamp, or the space around the painting are examples of negative space.

From bedrooms to kitchens, it’s about finding the right mix of elements to create harmony and balance. Proportion helps you place everything just right, like arranging the toppings on a perfect pizza. A lot of creative disciplines use the rule of thirds, and interior design is no exception. It’s a great tool to fall back on when grouping items because it generates a nice flow and cohesion. Stick with odd-numbered grouping such as three or five, and vary the height and size to create a tiered pattern.

White House Plumbers Official Website for the HBO Series

white house plumbers

A new five-part HBO mini-series may offer answers to those questions. “White House Plumbers,” premiering Monday, recreates the events that riveted a nation and upended American politics, focusing not on the usual characters — no Nixon, Woodward or Bernstein on the screen here — but on the men behind the crime. Obviously, Veep is a pure comedy with very written jokes. You know, this show will make you laugh, but they're not jokes.

What to do when a plumbing pipe bursts?

This five-part limited series imagines the behind-the-scenes story of how Nixon’s political saboteurs, E. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux), accidentally toppled the presidency they were zealously trying to protect… and their families along with it. Chronicling actions on the ground, this satirical drama begins in 1971 when the White House hires Hunt and Liddy, former CIA and FBI, respectively, to investigate the Pentagon Papers leak. After failing upward, the unlikely pair lands on the Committee to Re-Elect the President, plotting several unbelievable covert ops – including bugging the Democratic National Committee offices at the Watergate complex. Proving that fact is sometimes stranger than fiction, White House Plumbers sheds light on the lesser-known series of events that led to one of the greatest political scandals in American history. "White House Plumbers" is better before it gets to Watergate, with the first half depicting how Liddy and Hunt were bombastic but somehow good at their jobs, which helped them lead Nixon's corrupt Committee for the Re-election of the President.

Your Plumbing questions, answered

Where is this procedural process that's going to happen? Plumbers charge $45 to $150 per hour, with the average job costing $125 to $450 total. Many plumbing companies have a minimum service fee of $50 to $200. Emergency plumbing contractors charge double or triple time on weekends, after hours, and holidays, or $125 to $170 per hour. Even in an era of Oscar winners commandeering the small screen, the cast is impressive. There are frequent moments of “Ah, it’s them”, as the stars keep on coming.

In new edition of classic Watergate expose, Woodward and Bernstein link Nixon, Trump

When he talks about his childhood, he depicts himself as this sort of scrawny Irish guy from Hoboken, a kid who got bullied a lot. And he would do these insane things to get over his fears. So he trapped a rat, killed it and then ate it. So he would strap himself to a tree during a thunder and lightning storm. And I had sympathy for him as this bullied kid.

Shea Whigham previously played this larger-than-life figure in Starz’s Watergate and Martha Mitchell series “Gaslit” with even more feverish intensity, at one point stealing the show from Julia Roberts by battling a rat in prison. But Theroux’s self-amusement with the character is infectious enough; it's in the way his Liddy speaks regally as if he were already the star of a mini-series in his head. Mandel often embraces wide-angle lenses to make his characters appear even larger than life in the frame (also seen this week with a similar effect in David Lowery's "Peter Pan & Wendy"), and it's a particularly fitting way to capture Theroux's irascible work.

'A tragedy that makes you laugh': HBO's 'White House Plumbers' revisits Watergate

However, if they go out of their way to help or spend more time than expected, a tip is appreciated. Ultimately, the writers and director relied on their protagonists. Hunt and Liddy didn’t see themselves as absurd. When they looked in the mirror, they saw the ultimate patriots, and they were willing to do whatever it took to prove themselves. They were, in a sense, the straight men in their own comedy.

A new HBO “slapstick tragedy” mostly avoids the Oval Office in favor of the men who actually executed the infamous burglary that brought down a president. Theroux and Mandel spoke to Morning Edition about what drew them to the series and how characters like Liddy paved the way for today's right-wing extremism. "White House Plumbers" premieres on HBO on May 1st. A podcast, a chat with his boss and a missing piece of the puzzle put Robbie Pickering on the set of the Watergate drama.

In ‘Mr. Bates vs The Post Office,’ Toby Jones is the quiet, stubborn leader of a resistance

It's character and real world things that you just find so shocking and horrible. This mix of, "oh my God, they were breaking in to try and basically undermine the will of the American people." These are guys that just are so desperate to be one step closer to power. And I think that's something that unfortunately infects just D.C. A still from the HBO miniseries White House Plumbers, in which G. Gordon Liddy orchestrates the failed Watergate break-in. Liddy wrote a book called Will, which was his sort of autobiography, which sometimes reads like a tall tale, Paul Bunyan type.

At one point, Kathleen Turner takes centre stage, as the notorious lobbyist Dita Beard, shipped off to hospital to keep her away from the White House. Judy Greer is Liddy’s wife, Domhnall Gleeson is White House counsel John Dean, and Mad Men’s Rich Sommer and Kiernan Shipka dust off the period costumes once again. The Veep showrunner David Mandel directs, which should give some idea of the acerbic tone it aims for. The obligatory “based on a true story” note that opens the show cheekily points out that “no names have been changed to protect the innocent, because nearly everyone was found guilty”. Over five episodes, it follows the inept misadventures (and that’s putting it lightly, although, surprisingly, the series does occasionally allow space for an interpretation of the pair as quirky goofs) of the Nixon operatives E Howard Hunt and G Gordon Liddy. White House Plumbers is an A-list, star-stuffed, prestige retelling of the Watergate scandal, which might sound familiar to viewers of last year’s Gaslit, another A-list, star-stuffed, prestige retelling of the Watergate scandal.

Gordon Liddy, accidentally toppled the presidency they were trying to protect. With each episode directed by David Mandel (also a “Veep” alum, along with Gregory and Huyck), "White House Plumbers" initially gets considerable momentum from the weirdness of its two lead performances. Justin Theroux is about as pompous as he can be with the tar-black, openly fake-looking mustache of Liddy, paired neatly with the agent’s troubling love of Hitler’s speeches, guns, and propensity to keep his hand over a flame as a gesture of his trustworthiness.

Watergate masterminds and President Richard Nixon's political operatives E.

However, it’s all about Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux. Harrelson is the former CIA agent Hunt, who was “un-hireable when the agency dumped you”. He begins the series in a depressed state, reduced to churning out soul-sapping copy for a public-relations firm, and is someone who has strong opinions that he expresses with gusto. He rants about how Time magazine is “propaganda”, while his family falls apart around him. Lena Headey is his wife, Dorothy, an active CIA asset, who asks him to “try not to be such an asshole” while pleading with him to take some responsibility for his chaotic children. As Liddy, Theroux wears a grand moustache and kipper tie, or they wear him.

It's definitely worth seeing, and savoring. LOS ANGELES — On June 17, 1972, five men were arrested while breaking into the Democratic National Committee offices at the Watergate office building in Washington, D.C.

“White House Plumbers” grabs a few chuckles from how Hunt is only a layer away from Liddy's nuttiness or that he’s a dorky dad with a secret job. But Harrelson's veneers and gurgly voice do a lot of the heavy lifting for an otherwise bland comedic and dramatic performance. Hunt’s character has a tragic element that Harrelson doesn’t get to the bottom of, and it's a missed opportunity. So we come to “White House Plumbers,” a tale in five parts, premiering Monday on HBO. White House Plumbers gets clogged up by its overstuffed adherence to real history, but with actors this appealing and material that truly is stranger than fiction, it flushes down easy enough.

ATLANTA, Jan. 27, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Known for its unique curation of home furnishings and décor, Ballard announces official expansion of its home performance fabric options to include Crypton luxury textiles. Introduced in 1961, Sunbrella fabrics are manufactured and marketed by Glen Raven, Inc., a 138-year-old family-owned company based in North Carolina with operations worldwide. For more information on Sunbrella, including inspiration, fabric collections and where to buy, visit sunbrella.com. Ballard Designs and Sunbrella have a mutual passion for inspired design. The two companies have a long-standing partnership, beginning with Ballard Designs offering Sunbrella fabrics for outdoor living.

If you are interested in this service, it’s a good idea to call your local outlet to inquire and add yourself to the list. Ballard Outlet is your one-stop-shop for discounted and high-quality home furnishings and décor. As a subsidiary of the company, the outlets offer a selection of overstocked, discontinued, or slightly imperfect Ballard furniture from the retail product line.

Ballard Designs counter stools and bar stools are very common at the outlet. They often have very popular styles, like the Bailey and Dayna stools, which are currently on sale online too. While the outlet has tons of discounted rugs, you can land some equally good deals by browsing clearance rugs here. I have delivery days listed in individual location updates linked at the top of the post. However, for the most up-to-date information, call ahead to your local outlet to confirm.

Ballard's wide, mix-and-match variety of Crypton sofa and chair upholstery fabric options allow luxury throughout the home without fear of an uncleanable mess. The outlet carries quite an assortment of Ballard Designs drapes. Ballard Designs fabric is often in stock in the online clearance section as well. You can find lots of Ballard Designs mirrors at the outlets.

The best place to begin is with a beautiful pair of bold lamps. Just like a leopard coat works with most of your outfits, this leopard print chair is the same. And the upholstered arms and legs make it totally refined and an excuse to show off even more of a pretty print. Not only does it hide EVERYTHING, but it looks good in any room. For a chair to pass the test of whether it should be purchased, it should look good BY ITSELF with nothing on it.

Ballard Designs is a leading home furnishings and décor company that offers a wide range of stylish and high-quality products for customers. Founded in 1983, the company has a strong reputation for creating timeless designs that are both functional and beautiful. A dining room buffet or sideboard is another important opportunity for styling.

I also painted the ceilings a pale shade of lavender which showed up a little too pale in these photos because it was a bright day when we photographed the room. But it repeats the artwork and other lavender accessories so nicely. Ballard’s Parisian-inspired Beaudry mirror above the fireplace adds more sparkle and glam to the room. The Loren Coffee Table has such fine detail to draw the eye without being fussy.

The three beaches to visit on Siesta Key are Siesta Beach, Crescent Beach, and Turtle Beach. This popular peninsula in Massachusetts is a vacation hotspot for good reason. While it really heats up during the summer, it's a beautiful destination year-round, and is brimming with history (head to nearby Plymouth to see where the Mayflower docked). Not only does it offer the best New England summer atmosphere, it's also home to exciting activities and small town summer charm. Here, you can spot wildlife, like whales (Cape Cod is near their migration path) and seals, indulge in delicious seafood, and enjoy miles upon miles of sandy coastline. The Upper Cape is best for families, the Mid-Cape is perfect for escaping the crowds, and the Lower Cape is home to great luxury hotels.

All reviews are collected from real users with a verified booking made with KAYAK or one of our trusted external partners. Our Bungalow is a stand-alone unit located across the street, directly in front of the main lobby building. It is the ideal environment for larger families or multiple couples and/or friends coming to Montauk as a group.

The closest airport is Long Island MacArthur Airport, a 90-minute drive from here. While it's not too far from the aforementioned Pawleys Island, Myrtle Beach will feel worlds away from the slow, small-town atmosphere of the other quaint town. This popular summer destination boasts bigger crowds than its neighbor, and has a wide assortment of entertainment, dining, nightlife, and activities available. Aside from the deliciously warm weather and miles of beaches to traverse, Myrtle Beach is also home to a great many golf courses, amusement parks, water parks, and an iconic boardwalk with a massive 187-foot-tall Ferris Wheel.

There are lots of cozy indoor and outdoor lounge areas, where guests can relax and mingle. The vibe here is very young and trendy -- it's a place where people come not only to relax but also to party. Though the hotel caters to all age groups, the loud pool parties may not suit everyone; but there is a quiet “Zen Zone” for those looking for calm. Most guests staying here are young couples spending a long weekend away. The Montauk Beach House is a 15-minute walk from the center of Montauk, a town located on the eastern end of the south shore of Long Island.

A rear outdoor deck is a great area for morning coffee, or evening wine. You’ll also get access to member-only discounts and a dedicated team of travel experts ready to provide personalized assistance along every step of your journey. Tablet Hotels was added to the Michelin family in 2018 when it merged with the MICHELIN Guide and became the source of the hotel selection. It's known for its sand dunes in Jockey Ridge State Park, which comprise the tallest true sand dune system on the East Coast. Much of Maine's Mt.
